Vocus Group New Zealand appoints VMLY&R as new agency following a competitive pitch

After a competitive pitch, Vocus Group New Zealand has appointed VMLY&R NZ as its agency partner for Orcon and Slingshot. Included in the agency’s remit is brand and retail strategy, creative, digital and UX/CX.

The move stemmed from Vocus’ decision to consolidate their business to one agency partner, having previously aligned with several agencies according to their expertise.

VMLY&R’s enters the partnership armed with a wealth of experience in the telco and ISP category across the entire agency and a vision to disrupt the current, commodified market.

Says James Mok, managing director, VMLY&R: “We’re incredibly excited to be working with Vocus Group to help grow their Slingshot and Orcon brands.

“People say being able to connect online is like oxygen, so this category is one of the most competitive to be in. Vocus Group has big ambitions and we’re delighted that they saw how VMLY&R’s model of brand advertising integrated with brand experience will help achieve success.”

Says Taryn Hamilton, general manager – consumer, Vocus Group: “VMLY&R’s thinking was really impressive. We are competing with some of the biggest marketing budgets in the country, so need to be really smart with anything we take to market. I look forward to getting our new campaign launched and stealing even more customers from Spark and Vodafone.”

VMLY&R’s work on Orcon and Slingshot will commence immediately.
