Chorus NZ: It’s How We Internet Now
Saatchi & Saatchi, New Zealand
How do you show everyday New Zealanders that they don’t have to put up with their crappy, inferior internet? Thus the new Chorus platform idea “Fibre. It’s How We Internet Now.” Then we launched it with the funny yet tragic story of Carl, who suffers an awful affliction affecting thousands of Kiwis like him every day – “Badnet.”

Toyota NZ Ltd: An Unbreakable Bond
Saatchi & Saatchi, New Zealand
The new 2021 Hilux campaign celebrates the bond between friends, between the driver and their Hilux, and between Hilux and New Zealand. It’s a bond as unbreakable as the ute itself. We also threw in as many characters, trucks, one liners, landscape shots and laughs as we could. Nice nice nice nice nice.

Global Women: Stop the Motherhood Penalty
Saatchi & Saatchi, New Zealand
For International Women’s Day 2021, Global Women New Zealand released this campaign highlighting the “Motherhood Penalty” – the startling fact that on average, mothers earn 12.5% less than fathers of the same age and education over the course of their career. Delicately crafted stop-motion animation from director Anna Mantzaris shows a woman performing a range of hilarious career-limiting moments – but none as career -limiting as having a baby.

Women’s Work Collective: The Case Study Project
Saatchi & Saatchi, New Zealand
Less than 15% of advertising photography is shot by women. So to get agencies to consider more women photographers for their next campaign, we targeted advertising’s most influential group, Cannes jurors, by entering a case study into Cannes 2021 for a poster campaign that never ran… except when it did as part of the case study. Confronting, cheeky and provocative, it’s designed to get the attention of the very people whose behaviour we needed to start changing.

DB Breweries (Heineken): Don’t Drink Heineken
Saatchi & Saatchi, New Zealand
Even though the law says you can have a drink and still drive, Heineken disagrees. So in the month of December they disagreed in a big way. While every other brand was encouraging Kiwis to drink their product, they did the opposite, with Heineken’s biggest locally produced NZ campaign ever. In a media takeover of billboards, street posters, office screens, newspaper, pre-rolls, digital banners and radio, Heineken told Kiwis to never drink Heineken. If they’re driving, that is.
