Having heard what happened to Jules, they definitely need one.
Judging by the recent stories in Fastline he can certainly do with some help in people management.
She’ll have her work cut out on the retention front then. But it will be a full time job managing the place, and the trail of people-destruction in the place.
They probably should employ an employment lawyer while they are at it.
Now, is there anything else we need to discuss….
But Higgy was doing so well!
Well this sure shows how much the Clemenger Group has changed. Looks like the family feeling and caring about their employees left with Rog and Brent.
Agree with 2.51
Also agree with 2:51
I’m at Colenso and I can tell you that the family feeling and caring about employees is still alive and well. Its about time someone wrote something positive on this blog.
4.41 You are either naive or work for finance. Ever wondered why fastline wasn’t sent around our building two weeks back?
Bit late now. Should have appointed this role ages ago. Management has maybe worked out that approach doesn’t fly in NZ.
For the record the price protection of senior managements share options was (is) always more important than the staff.
If an employer says they care about you they’re lying. If you think they care about you, you’re living in disneyland. The only thing an employer cares about is the bottom line. You’ll see how much they care for you when the bottom line starts looking grim.
5:50 if you knew what you were talking about you would know that Lou is neither naive or in finance. Show some respect.
The most senior management of the Clemenger Group, both here and Aus are ruthless, old school and lacking anything in the way of heart. Anyone that gets someone to babysit their kid while they are secretly interviewing for that persons replacement has no moral compass.
5.50 clearly you don’t work in the building if you think Lou works for finance… (or if you do then perhaps you need to get away from your desk and meet some of your fellow workers). There’s no doubt that the bottom line always rules but it’s not to say that there aren’t some great people on the management team at 100 college hill who are trying their best to look after their employees through a time of pretty major upheaval for some.
7.55 answer 5.50s question then
Margot is going to discover that rather than helping people, she will in fact be a carrying out a role more akin to that of Goebbles
Aimster you cant read properly. Read my post at 5.50pm again. See the word ‘or’ ?
9.57 – did you read the following week’s fastline where they retracted their comments and admitted they got it wrong?
11.22 …they admit to getting it wrong about not replying to them, thats all. The body of facts the week before were right, as you well know. The character assassination of Jules was appalling to read.
And why was fastline not circulated? No one is answering this question. Which begs a question or two.
Jules was awesome, we miss her on floor one!….
Well, let’s face it.
After the botch up and mishandling of the lovely Jules, they need one.
What happened to Jules? She’s lovely. Could anyone elaborate?
Fastline July 29:
Jules Aekins, for the past 12 years the personal assistant to the senior executives at Colenso (including Roger MacDonnell & Jim Moser) has departed in mysterious circumstances.
Fastline has received an email from a close friend, who claims Moser showed Aekins the door and told her to “see a fucking lawyer”. “There’s a lot of very pissed-off people at Colenso who can’t believe she’s been treated so badly,” the friend wrote.
We asked Moser for his side of the story, but 24 hours later, at Fastline’s deadline time, he had not responded. We also emailed Aekins at her Colenso address, to no avail.
Fastline August 5:
clemenger Group ceo Jim Moser says he was hurt by a claim that he swore at his departing p.a. Jules Aekins. “Jules is a feisty character, but i would never use language like that in circumstances like that,” he told Fastline.
the claim, from a friend of aekins, was published in last week’s issue. “Jules took extended leave in June, and chose not to return,” moser said. “i have a temp working with me until i find a replacement.”
moser also challenged Fastline’s claim that he had not responded to a request for comment. in fact, he did respond, but issues with colenso’s email server meant his email was not delivered. Fastline has since seen the email, and can confirm it was sent at 10.06am – just six minutes after we sent our request.
Jules is lovely. Calling her feisty (which she is not) and making her look bad in a publication is very bad form.
You can doctor the time on an email in a heartbeat.
The Clemenger Group in NZ is now all about the money. The days of family and loyalty, long gone. The new regime’s influence permeates the halls of Colenso and Clemenger and has made its presence felt through massive staff and salary cuts to loyal staff already struggling under the weight of their workloads. It is a tragedy that Peter Biggs and Brent Smart have left the building. The Clemenger Group would be in much better heart and shape with them at the helm. I wish Margot well. She has her work cut out for her.
Jules? Feisty? What the hell? She was the kindest and most caring person in the building and is now dearly missed.
Wonder if Colenso staff have been blocked from accessing this website? It’s gone very quiet in Ponsonby.
She’s got one hell of a job ahead of her in Wellington….
Massive shame that Brent Smart left. He’s a big hole in the agency and it’s showing, big time.
What’s up in Wellington?
8.05 exactly. Brent’s left a legacy and its not being filled.
Dont even mention the others!
Everythings fine in Wellington as long as you don’t mind stepping back into the 80s. Good luck Margot.
There will be some very nervous old men in Wellington at the moment.
Did Clems ever leave the 80’s? ‘If you stick with something long enough it’ll come back’ is not a valid business strategy.
Hopefully the AIM Wellington crew can avoid being done over like their Auckland counterparts in all of this.
12.47. HEAR. HEAR.
HEAR THAT 100 COLLEGE HILL?
10.55.
It’s why management have to resort to hiring HR Directors. That way their shit doesn’t fly back into their own face like it just did with Jules. It flies back into some HR person’s face instead.
Craig’s right, you get someone else to take the hit n shit. That way you can come across as warm and smarmy.
So the smiling assassin wants to hide behind the skirt of some HR person.
It doesn’t work. Everyone can still see you at work.
Just ask the people at DDB.
6.34.
What are you talking about?
They don’t even exist now. They were done over long before their Auckland counterparts.
It’s called the art of distraction.
Make a complete fark up of an ugly retrenchment and rush out and hire a HR bod to take all the heat.
The nasty fark up remains. Period.
Jules rules.
For a long time now it has been “the work the work the work” not “the people the people the people”. While the staff share scheme is good for those who get generous pay packets and a reduction in interest rates on their loans, the fear of not making a decent bottom line is motivation enough to hire and fire without discrimination.
Getting a ‘People Development Director’ might be too late for dear Jules but hopefully no one else will be treated like she was after 12 years. Instead of a good farewell lunch send off she was told to fuck off and get a lawyer. And then they try to deny it – what joke. Other staff heard!
Admedia – did you read 11.46 am? Maybe you should revisit that story again.
“Jules took extended leave in June, and chose not to return,” moser said
I know a different story. Go Jules you rock the planet! XX
julsie
you are the most loving person in the world.

11.46 is right.
There is no place to hide for those who show their real colours when it comes to the way they treat people.
An action like that is a stain on their own reputation.
Stains don’t come out.
47 comments and counting… and this blogs almost off the front page. It’s just a shame that the collective staffs of Colenso and Clemenger can’t tell upper management what they think of their leadership of the New Zealand group. They’re very good at cutting money from the bottom line, totally useless as putting any in the top. They will complete their tenure with the books balanced and leave 2 demoralized and smoking wrecks of agencies to heal themselves… just like Clemenger Sydney.
Jules gave her heart and soul to Colenso and Clems – the way she was treated was appalling and only reiterates the heartless character of the people in charge – karma, people, karma….
