Auckland design company Alt Group wins best of the best at the Red Dot Design Awards in Berlin
Auckland based multidisciplinary design company, Alt Group, has been awarded five red dots, including a sought-after red dot: best of the best at the red dot awards in Berlin.
The red dot awards, held each year in Germany, recognise the best in product design, communication design and design concepts from around the world. This year fifteen jury members, all internationally recognised design experts, evaluated each one of the 6,823 entries over several days. The red dot jury selected only 63 red dot: best of the best awards which are given for exceptional creative achievements.
Alt won the red dot: best of the best award for Social Kitchen, a project created for Fisher & Paykel in collaboration with The Engine Room restaurant and furniture design company IMO. The Social Kitchen was a pop up installation at Britomart which was designed to reflect Fisher & Paykel’s kitchen design philosophy, demonstrating the evolving role of the kitchen as the social hub in people’s everyday lives.
Alt also won four red dots for high design quality for a number of projects, including: Homestar Identity, an online home performance tool created for the New Zealand Green Building Council; Box Café Identity, created for The Edge, New Zealand’s largest performing arts centre; Wrong Note, a promotional music poster and for the Fisher & Paykel: The Social Kitchen project.
Professor Dr Peter Zec, the founder and CEO of the red dot awards, said that success among the thousands of submissions from 43 countries provides the winners with “an important competitive advantage and impressively shows that the laureates have competed with the most creative minds in the industry.”
The red dot winners will be celebrated at a glittering awards ceremony in the Konzerthaus Berlin on October 24, when the supreme award, the Red Dot: Grand Prix will be announced. All of the award winning works will be on show at a special exhibition in the Alte Munze Berlin from October 25-28.
