I’ll just get in before the haters.
I liked it.
Now get on with the hating.
Nice. Isn’t going to win any creative awards, but I bet average NZ mum and dad will love it.
B**ch please.
It’s choice
It’s pretty cool, but you easily enough swap the Vodafone logo for a bank logo and it would still work just as well.
Also, didn’t 2degrees do an ad with a well liked New Zealander walking through different scenes making humorous observations?
Great ad. I really like it
Like it. But very confusing when AMP have ‘Do your thing’ and doyourthing.co.nz goes to the AMP site.
‘Do your thing better’ and doyourthingbetter.co.nz are just hard work and not differentiated enough.
Am sure they are doing a great job for AMP though as viewers wade through the mess.
Sure, nice.
Both Voda and Telecom have gone for vastly different approaches. Agreed, both spots work – both directors are top notch. Craft points – regardless. No argument. Robbers Dog really are kicking it with talent. But both messages are confusing. One has a turtle, the other has a “big picture” message. What is it about telcos that has to position them as escaping reality!!! Chasing an imagination?? Come back to the real world blue chip brands….
Does anyone else find it suspicious that this article and the Stop Press article both name the front person in the headline? It’s almost as though FCB and Vodafone are aware no one knows who he is and are desperately trying to get the PR out there.

Best ad I’ve seen all year. Hats off to everyone that made it happen
Nice. Especially liked the Possum Cheese gag, a sick thought.
I trsut this is not one of the creative ideas that won FCB the pitch because if it is then you know the peeple at fault are really Vodafone and not FCB!
Not bad. But yes, 2degrees did pretty much the same thing, a little bit better, 2 or 3 years ago.
What was that? I feel like someone high on drugs just tried to tell me something really simple and ended up confusing themselves.
Whatever it was it’ll be forgotten in a week.
Well done Draft. Look forward to seeing the rest of it unfold.
The brief was to be more like 2degrees, and yep this idea won the pitch.
Love it but agree that it could be anyone’s ad. Stick ASB on the end and it would work very nicely. That’s always a dangerous sign.
Children, the big corporates all pay a lot for research before they do a big campaign.
The smart agencies do too.
Then when the answers around people’s dreams, desires, aspirations and characteristics are reflected in the eventual work, things get a bit samey, because the answers were the same. you’ll learn that when you’ve been around a bit longer.
More Kiwi twee…… Lord save me from it bro.
DT’s got another manifesto made into an ad. Tedious.
Nope. Don’t like it.
This is a testament to the success of 2 Degress and the Vodafone marketing department are a bunch of idiots in severe need of firing for trying to emulate them!
Where are the ukeleles?
After looking at AMP’s ‘Do Your Thing’ campaign, it would appear that Draft FCB has botched up their first major campaign for Vodafone.
The ad is great. However, it’s unmistakeably close to AMP’s campaign that seems to have been running for a number of years. All draft FCB have done is add in the word ‘better’ onto a pre-existing campaign. Either someone who is probably paid a lot of money hasn’t done their homework, or they have just been lazy and stolen the ideas.
The pre-existing campaign from AMP even says that they are about ‘helping kiwis do great things’ and what’s Vodafones? ‘helping kiwis do their thing better’. AMP’s website ‘www.doyourthing.co.nz, Vodafones ‘www.doyourhingbetter.co.nz. Smells awfully fishy to me. If I were Vodafone, I’d be pretty upset, especially with how much money they have probably invested in FCB to come up with this unoriginal campaign. Oh how simple research may have saved the day.
Seen it all before.
This kids not cute anymore
too stupid for a clever company
I loved this, well done. it made me subscribe to SkyTV
So based on this ad how exactly does Vodafone help you ‘Do your thing better’? If you go to the website all is revealed – they provide links to apps/websites that you could easily find by googling or searching the app store?!? Beautifully shot ad but is let down by having nothing to do with Vodafone’s actual products. It is a brand ad though, so not made to actually sell shit.
Why is everyone copying each other and remaking the same ads? Has NZ run out of original ideas? Haven’t seen a decent tv ad since that ghost chops.
