BIG little City’s ‘Love Your City’ campaign takes off in Auckland with Instagram via Colenso BBDO
As the fresh chill of winter ensues, Auckland’s budding photographers have been snapping up a storm with BIG little City’s recently launched Love Your City campaign via Colenso BBDO, Auckland.
Love Your City is an Instagram-driven campaign, developed to inspire and delight those making the most of the central city and encouraging people to share their stories via photographs.
Once the images have been taken, people are to hashtag their experience with #loveyourcityblc, to join this trending topic.
Says Kate Cleaver, head of marketing, Heart of the City: “This is Auckland’s central city through the eyes of those who live and visit here every day, and that’s what we love about this campaign. It’s been created by ‘the city’ to share what they love most with the rest of the world. It’s a very authentic way to show off the incredible breadth and diversity of experiences to be enjoyed here.”
Since launching on Monday, 17 June, over 4,000 phenomenal images have been captured, which are available to view in an online gallery on both their website and Facebook page. The BIG little City website has reached over 16,000 views in the past month since the campaign live.
Says Cleaver: “The response in the first month indicates that people enjoy engaging with new media like Instagram and sharing the love of their favourite experiences in the city with others.”
With a tremendous response from key influencers and commentators around the city, Love Your City is being hashtagged by the likes of George FM’s Breakfast host, Nick D and fashion-savvy blogger, Katherine Lowe. Some of their popular images include lunch at The Grove, colourful tapas at Mexico and cocktails at Xuxu Bar.
In addition to the support of key influencers, APN have come on-board as the print partner for the Love Your City campaign, garnering support from their professional photographers and Auckland-loving journalists.
Love Your City will continue for the next six weeks, before culminating in an exhibition of the best photographs as part of Art Week starting Friday, 11 October. BIG little City encourages people to get hashtagging and #loveyourcityblc for a chance for their photo to be included in the exhibition.
To join the #loveyourcityblc campaign, participants must:
· Take a photo using Instagram in Auckland’s BIG little city (allow location settings)
· Hashtag with #loveyourcityblc
· Tick “Add to your Photo Map & choose the location”
· Upload it
