Semi-Permanent Wellington 2013 tickets now on sale – held on Oct 18 + 19 at the Embassy Theatre
Semi-Permanent Wellington 2013 has announced that tickets are now on sale. The event will take place over two day – 18 and 19 October at the Embassy Theatre.
Twelve speakers from around the globe will share their personal experiences, insights and expertise in the design, animation, advertising, graphic and illustration arenas.
This year the mash-up of creative minds includes creative director Matt Checkowski (chief at The Department of the 4th Dimension who created the first ever Pop-Up Museum for scent and designed the dream sequences for Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report, among other things), Turkish software and new technology maestro Memo Atken (Marshmallow Laser Feast), Australian Scott Harris of Mistress Creative in Venice Beach who has created experiential campaigns for Hot Wheels, a TV series for Red Bull and the world’s first musical for a brand.
New Zealand Director of Semi-Permanent Simon Velvin, a born and bred Wellingtonian, was determined to make the critically acclaimed creative conference an annual fixture on the capital’s cultural calender
Says Velvin: “It will be the second year we bring this mix of minds to the city and I couldn’t be more enthused by the selection of smarts we have traveling to New Zealand. There is no other way I know to have your mind bent and your soul inspired in such a short, sharp way. That’s the beauty of Semi-Permanent – it’s intense, it’s exciting and we don’t want people to miss out so we encourage everyone to get their tickets fast.”
Female speakers include Michella Webb of Studio Round, an internationally recognised Melbourne-based designer. She is joined by Sydney typographer Gemma O’Brien who’s hand-lettering is in demand from clients such as Woolworths, the New York Times, Vodafone, Smirnoff and Canon.
Mario Lambardo, one of Germany’s most relevant graphic designers will be traveling from Germany and architect Farzin Lotfi-Jam, whose practice explores the intersection of culture, perception and algorithm, will be explaining what that all means.
Says Velvin: “Semi-Permanent is a global gathering of pure talent, new ideas, conversation and visual splendour. There’s a festival atmosphere to the conference with inspiring activities and events throughout the week including live art, exhibitions, installations and workshops. See you there.”
