Heineken New Zealand takes tennis beyond the court this summer in a new campaign

Heineken Open_Rooftop Apartment.jpgToday sees the launch of Heineken Open Play, an eight week celebration of tennis and entertainment to mark Heineken’s 16 year sponsorship of the Heineken Open. The campaign aims to do away with the perception that the action just happens on court.

Says Jen Macindoe, Heineken marketing manager: “Heineken Open Play really connects Kiwis to a World Class experience. We’re on a deliberate mission this year to get people thinking differently about the fun and excitement of tennis – creating a campaign that engages those in the stadium and around New Zealand as well.”

Leading the launch is the exciting announcement of the ‘Heineken Open Rooftop Apartment’ promotion which will see two mates score the best seats in the house for the duration of the Heineken Open. The winners will live in a custom built pop-up rooftop apartment complete with a private balcony, overlooking all the action on Centre Court and Auckland’s city-scape for the week.

Every Kiwi guy’s dream, the apartment will be decked out with all the mod-cons including Panasonic electronics, furniture by Nood, 24-hour private concierge, catering by The Sky City Restaurant Group and of course a well-stocked Heineken fridge. The lucky winners will also have access to Next Generation Club facilities including the gym, pool, spa and sauna plus tickets to the coolest gig this summer – the official Heineken Open Baseline After Party.  It goes without saying that they will also have access to unparalleled, all day, every day, 360 degree birds-eye views of the tennis action.

To be in to win the Heineken Open Rooftop Apartment, entrants can simply visit Heineken.com/openplay or text ‘tennis’ and their email to 5333 to enter.

Other exciting events on the Heineken Open Play calendar include swing-ball tournaments on a grand scale at The Birdcage in Auckland, St Johns Heineken Hotel in Wellington and on the ground at Baseline. There is the chance to be a live sports commentator for a day at the Heineken Open Final for George FM and the opportunity to play alongside some of the tennis greats with their mate down at the Open.

Says Macindoe: “Tennis in New Zealand doesn’t have the same social following that it does in the UK or US.  We go all out for rugby and cricket.  It’s about time that we do things bigger, better and in a much more relaxed way for tennis.  We want Kiwis to have the chance to enjoy the game on and off the court and this promises to be our most exciting Heineken Open campaign yet.”

For the duration of the Heineken Open, Heineken will host a series of Heineken Open Play events and competitions here.
