Burger King admits it hasn’t been cutting it in new BK Chicken campaign via Pitchblack Partners
Nostalgia for Burger King’s much-loved BK Chicken has sparked a new campaign via Pitchblack Partners, with the brand acknowledging it hasn’t been cutting it – the BK Chicken that is.
Burger King fans have spoken, calling out the brand for no longer cutting the much-loved burger in half – something the brand used to do, but seems to have dropped the ball.
As a result, Pitchblack has partnered with Burger King to launch the #uncutBKchicken campaign – a phased roll out which kicked off with an influencer partnership with Johnny Tuivasa-Sheck, where the Instagram funny-man called Burger King out for not cutting his beloved BK Chicken.
Burger King then used its social channels to respond, and launch an investigation which sparked a cut vs. uncut debate, driving fan engagement through Instagram polls.
The social activity was followed by an integrated campaign featuring TV, billboards, street posters and online. The campaign prompted keen fans to spot hidden uncut BK Chicken burgers across the platforms, in return for a free cut BK Chicken.

…. when BK in NZ used to do some really great advertising? feels like a long time ago these days
Remember when you used to do really great advertising? Neither.
I just wrote a great ad.
But I am amazing.
But, back to the issue.
BK hasn’t made a great burger in ages.
It’s a legacy brand struggling everywhere trading off its past.
As for slicing the burger, it’s tenuous.
Will it make me try one? Nope.
The brand is a last resort when I’m stumbling home from a long long lunch and Burger Fuel is closed and the local McDs reduced to drive though.
As for the ad, well, I might have thought twice about it.
BK chicken burger is selling very well since the campaign you don’t care about launched, so clearly people watch ads and see something that interest them and buy the product, it doesn’t have to be new, just like a Big Mac.
You may also have heard of the Rebel Whopper (plant based) and the Rebel Chicken (plant based) these are recent NEW burgers also selling really well. Your opinion just highlights that you are simple. x
Why is a sliced burger a benefit? Why should I, or anyone for that matter give a shit? “Hey, quick kids, BK is slicing their burgers, hurry!”
