Unfortunately, due to the uncertainty around alert-levels the Comms Council has made the difficult decision to move 2021 Effie Aotearoa Awards in association with TVNZ to a virtual event for the second year in a row. The awards will now be hosted via the Comms Council website on November 10th, 2021, at 5pm.
After a year that forced everyone apart, Comms Council knows everyone was looking forward to an opportunity to come together and celebrate the most effective advertising campaigns in Aotearoa this year. With a near record number of entries this year, judging online over the past month has been a rewarding challenge for over 200 of our industries best who have had the opportunity to review and award the all-important Silver, Gold and Grand Effie’s.
The Comms Council Executive Board and Effie Steering Committee are hoping everyone can still connect as an industry and use this as an opportunity to appreciate all the hard work that has been accomplished in the past 18 months under even harder circumstances.
Says a spokesperson from the 2021 Effie Aotearoa Steering Committee: “Let’s celebrate the long term creative best practice, that we know builds brands and drives commercial success over time. Let’s resist the temptation to reward short-term, disposable creativity, that is designed to cause an immediate stir and then disappear without a trace. Let’s call out and celebrate all effective creativity, the kind of ideas and initiatives that pursue purposeful objectives and drive proven, quantifiable outcomes. Because Creative Effectiveness is everything. It’s the credibility on which marketing communications is built and reminds us that this is an industry that matters.”
The Effie Awards wouldn’t be possible without the support of its fantastic sponsors – so a massive thanks to TVNZ their commercial partner and major sponsor of The Effie Awards. The Effie Awards would also like to thank its commercial partner oOh!Media and NZME, Nielsen, The Radio Bureau, Facebook, Google, Cartology, and Neuro-Insights for their ongoing support for Effie and throughout this year.
The awards will be hosted virtually, and links to watch the show will be made available to the show on the Comms Council website (commscouncil.nz), and on their social channels.
