Westpac New Zealand appoints Publicis Groupe agencies Digitas and Saatchi & Saatchi to roster
After recently appointing Spark Foundry as its media partner in November 2021, Westpac New Zealand has this week appointed Publicis Groupe partners Saatchi & Saatchi and CX, CRM and Data specialists Digitas to its marketing and communications roster.
The appointment will see Saatchi & Saatchi provide day-to-day creativity increasing consideration, and conversion across its retail marketing landscape and Digitas to become the lead CRM, data and customer communication partner. It follows a recent competitive pitch.
Together, the Publicis Groupe community will partner with Westpac’s rostered agency to create, curate and build a connected marketing ecosystem across its entire customer experience.
Says Suraiya Phillimore-Smith, chief marketing officer, Westpac NZ: “We were hugely impressed with the strategic thinking and customer focus that the team brought to the table throughout the pitch process. The Publicis Groupe connected eco system is an enticing proposition and a New Zealand first, that brings our customers, CX, data and performance to the fore, combined with their world class people and expertise. This will enable us to build for the future together.”
Says Michael Rebelo, CEO, Publicis Groupe ANZ: “It’s great to see the Publicis connected platform coming together around such an important Groupe client as Westpac NZ. Our Groupe excels at authentic collaboration to bring a team of connected marketing talent and capabilities across media, data, CX and advertising. We can’t wait to unleash this for Westpac.”

DDB proving they do big ads and nothing else.
No reference to DDB? Are they still in or out.
Isn’t this just shifting things to the Aussie model and sending more work over the ditch?
.
both the bank and agency
DDB’s Track team lose, Saatchi’s team gain. This is a big one, gotta really hurt DDB. They’re still clinging on to doing the ads though…
I think the long list of awards this year for HIV + sperm bank, Everybody eats goodie box, Mackenzie pie warmer, Lotto On Ice, Steinlager alt blacks, samsung itest all say different? but thats just me…
Clearly not. Anyone want a big ugly gonk suit? One owner. No longer fits & looking to downsize.
Sorry, I know you work there, but the only one worthy of special mention was iTest.
Is an amazing idea let’s be honest here
And iTest was already done 10 years ago by Microsoft for Windows Phone.

But the multiple awards shows say different. Clearly you’re jealous because you don’t work there.
The prosecution is talking about losing business. The defence is mentioning the amount of awards DDB has won. Those two sentences explain everything.
I’m just an admirer of great work in this industry. And responding to a comment about DDB only making big TV. The politics around the relationship and the loss of the business is not what I was referring to. That’s something you and I both know nothing about.
Spent a lot of time there over the last few years, actually. Actively chose to ply my trade elsewhere.
Is a tactic and won’t solve the problem.

Good news, Westpac NZ will re-union with the old AID buddies.
