PAK’nSAVE’s Stickman finds a way to turn classic tracks into savey messages in new work via FCB

PAK’nSAVE’s iconic Stickman is trying his stick at a new gig this Christmas as he joins The Breeze for a special hour long show with Robert Scott on Friday 9th December, part of a new campaign via FCB New Zealand.

Stickman’s always loved radio for broadcasting PAK’nSAVE’s low priced message. But let’s face it, people don’t listen to the radio for the ads. They listen for the music. Which is why Stickman has taken to a new side hustle, becoming a DJ and turning some of the world’s most iconic songs into savey messages. And best of all? He didn’t need to spend a cent on royalties.

Using the stage name DJ SAVE-A-LOT, Stickman will be the first brand mascot to host his own radio show in New Zealand. This Friday, he’ll be taking to the mic with his special playlist of ‘savey songs’, reaffirming PAK’nSAVE’s commitment to low prices.

PAK’nSAVE senior marketing manager – brand and CX Lauren Ness says it all started when Stickman compiled his own Spotify playlist, ‘Budget Friendly Bangers Vol.1’, and shared it with his @instickman fanbase: “His followers loved it so much that we devised a plan to spread the savey tunes a little further. For Stickman, he’s always dreamed of hosting a DJ set on live radio, and when an opportunity came up for him to co-host with The Breeze, Stickman, or should I say DJ SAVE-A-LOT, was more excited than kid a Christmas!”

Stickman’s dream came true with help from PAK’nSAVE’s creative agency partner FCB, and media agency partner PHD Aotearoa. The New Zealand first of having a brand mascot like Stickman hosting a radio show reflects the outside ofthe box thinking that PAK’nSAVE is all about when it comes to championing low prices.

Peter Vegas and Leisa Wall, co-CCOs at FCB Aotearoa say Stickman has always had a face for radio and he can’t wait to share his DJ skills with the world: “As a budget brand, getting Stickman on air for an entire hour during the Christmas season is one thing, but being able to turn songs from legends like Madonna and Fleetwood Mac into savey messages without having to pay millions in royalties – well Stickman’s hit the low price jackpot.”

Adds Ness: “Stickman is just as passionate as we are about helping New Zealanders protect their hard-earned cash and is excited he’ll get to share some high-quality time with listeners on The Breeze.”

Stickman’s iconic radio debut will be broadcast on The Breeze weekday drive time show with Robert Scott from 3pm to 4pm Friday, 9th December. Download and listen on the rova app or on your local radio frequency.

And if you’re need of a helpful reminder to keep things savey this Christmas, be sure to add Stickman’s Spotify playlist of Budget Friendly Bangers Vol.1 to your favourites.
