Supie appoints Topham Guerin as new creative agency partner

Kiwi advertising agency Topham Guerin has been appointed by Supie as its new creative agency.

The cost of living crisis has well and truly dug its claws into the everyday Kiwi’s budget, and the supermarket duopoly isn’t making things any easier. Kiwis know how important it is to eat fresh fruit and veggies, but with prices skyrocketing it can be pretty tempting to settle for other value-driven, more convenient options instead.

Sarah Balle grew up on a veggie farm watching significant amounts of edible food being discarded due to the high standards of Kiwi supermarkets. Determined to disrupt the broken grocery industry in New Zealand and make fresh, local produce affordable and accessible again, she launched Supie.

And disrupt Supie has. Since launching 18 months ago, 30,000 Kiwis have signed-up to shop with Supie and 375 suppliers, including plenty of local farmers and producers, supply the online grocer with 7000+ products.

As Supie continues to front the grocery revolution, it’s brought on Topham Guerin to help spread the word there’s now a better, fairer alternative to the big supermarkets. As Supie’s creative and media partner, Topham Guerin is already helping Supie reach new homes around Auckland.

Says Sam Newton, managing director of APAC, Topham Guerin: “We are thrilled to be working alongside an amazing brand like Supie. It is an exciting time for Supie and we’re looking forward to helping the business communicate and deliver its vision. To be part of their growth and story is very exciting for our team.”

Once a Kiwi start-up themselves, Topham Guerin understands not just the obstacles a new business might face in the current landscape, but also the conversation surrounding the grocery industry in New Zealand. This, combined with their attention-grabbing creative and immersive understanding of what cuts through on social makes the partnership between Topham Guerin and Supie a recipe for success.

Says Balle: “Our marketing focus has evolved from launching the brand 18 months ago to now acquiring and retaining customers. We are delighted to have TG as our marketing partner for this exciting phase in our growth and we’re looking forward to a creative 2023 together.”

Keep an eye out for upcoming campaigns that will be shaking up the supermarket industry in NZ.
