Four Square makes a right royal return in new ‘King’s Feast’ campaign via FCB Aotearoa
FCB Aoteaora and Four Square have released their ‘King’s Feast’ campaign to crown their recently launched ‘What’ll It Be Today’ platform.
This marks Four Squares’ first return to television in almost 20 years, and follows its ‘How Convenient’ spot, where two wily ladies fleece a young man of his grape juice and chocolates as he boards a bus.
An iconic Kiwi brand, Four Squares’ aim was to reignite the love New Zealanders have for it and reinforce that their 226 stores across the country are the go-to destination for whatever they need, when they need it.
Says Diane Clark, head of marketing and CX at Four Square: “Bringing Four Square back to the airwaves feels like a home coming and the heroic story of King’s Feast is a fun way to demonstrate convenience. It’s a privilege to be part of the team reinvigorating such an iconic brand and investing in its long-term growth.”
The ‘What’ll It Be Today’ platform was initially launched via a new design system and has been in market with radio, OOH, social and digital for over a year, winning multiple awards along the way. ‘King’s Feast’ builds on these foundations, reaching the widest possible audience with a beautiful piece of storytelling.
Says Leisa Wall, CCO, FCB Aotearoa: “We’ve loved working on the latest chapter of this iconic brand. When you visit a new Four Square store you’re struck by the way they have evolved with the times but still kept hold of that lovely sense of nostalgia, so it was important to us to ensure this balance was achieved in the brand work too.”

nice
Looks like it was fun to make.
Is that a singer from Sol3Mio Moses Mackay playing the knight who buys the food?
It was. I was one of the background extras in it. Was extremely fun to make. Was up till about 3am on set 😂
Who is the four square check out lady??
So that’s a win from me
I was wondering who made this when it popped up on the telly, and the fact that Four Square had some money to spend. Nice result chaps.
Not a fan at all.
I enjoyed this. Clever. What is going on with that soldier one with the quiet audio but
When the client picks the concept you had in the deck as filler..
Also all different types of cheese, get them from your local Four Square… ad.
In 20 years when you get another crack, go drier on the comedy.
Bet you’re a fan of Briscoes mailers
That ANZAC spot is really bizarre isn’t it… like it wants to break into a PTSD awareness campaign but pulls back and decides to go down a ASMR route instead… looks well strange too.
Liked this a lot!
Fun and a bit silly – probs more meaningful to the average Kiwi than another sob story
Was it made at the Sign of the Takahe in chch
Fun ad. The public will love it.
Love this. Clever and loveable. Love.
Still don’t understand why I should go there over anywhere else.
Meh
From the agencies and clients.
Good stuff. Doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Love this ad so much. Especially the ending
Love this ad . Have forwarded to
People in Oz
Great to see the last comment about the Greek salad was “na its from New Zealand”…no Aotearoa? Top marks for a New Zealand ad
Yes absolutely agree …. NEW ZEALAND …. Have forwarded to family and friends in Oz and UK
Can’t make the last word, though.
“Fetch more ……!”
Anybody catch it?
I am having the same trouble. what is that last word???
I think the answer you’re looking for is foodage.
Unsure why the phrase ‘I’ve regurgitated bigger meals than this’ has been withdrawn?
I presume someone complained about the expression so they changed it. I much preferred the original.
Because some woke Karen didn’t like it
Where was this filmed?
Central Auckland city, at St Mathew-in-the-city
It’s driving me silly….please can someone tell me the last word is in “fetch me more
What???
fectch more food in?
Fetch my what?
Unsure
Cracker ad – love it.
It’s a family argument as to what is said in the beginning. I think its “fit for congress “whereas my other half thinks it “makes more progress” please settle the argument!
great that you brought back the lady who bowed at the checkout. Best shot of the commercial. Now please replace this silly voice at the very end “What’ll it be today”
Still haven’t heard the ladt word, fetch more!?????? C’mon can anyone enlighten us please!
Fetch more produce ?
Yes!! Fetch more what????
I was not able to understand the king..:who is a feast??
Still can’t figure out what the king said. Or doesn’t 4 square want us to know?
Karens are never woke, BTW
I’m here to save the day.
THE KING says: “Call this a feast???”
(Humorously, the auto-generated captions say, ‘Cool, there’s a feast.’ Which couldn’t be more wrong.)
SIR JEFF says: “His Kingship hath sent me to fetch a slain fowleth… or tenneth?”
(Fowl is another word for bird, as you know. And adding -eth to a word is a common way of making it sound medieval or Shakespearean. So it’s just the medieval way of saying, ‘grab a dead chook—or ten.’)
