The plot thickens in Powerball’s latest Imagine instalment ‘House Hunt’ via DDB Aotearoa
Lotto New Zealand and DDB Aotearoa have this week launched the 6th instalment in the celebrated Imagine Powerball campaign, titled House Hunt.
Directed once again by Tim Bullock, the story begins with hero character Dave arriving home to find his house has disappeared, learning that his wife has taken it. The mystery unfolds from there until it resolves as a touching love story, with two separate dreams coming true.
Recognised with multiple Gold awards at Effies Aotearoa over the years, the Imagine series is a testament to DDB Aotearoa’s dedication to improving each creation. The latest iteration of the series ‘House Hunt,’ represents the platform’s captivating evolution over the past eight years, delving into the underlying reasons why people play Powerball, and retelling them in emotive ways that resonate with many Kiwis.
Rory McKechnie, creative director at DDB Aotearoa says that while the instalment tells an inherently humble story that most could relate to, it also might spark some debate: “We’d like to think that House Hunt might raise a few questions in households – firstly, how would you surprise your significant other with the news, and also, what pieces of your life would you change, and which would you ensure stayed exactly the same?”
Says Leah Neilson, head of brand and creative at Lotto NZ: “The remarkable truth we witness time and again is that when Kiwis win big with Powerball, they often choose to embrace the simple things – it doesn’t always mean transforming every aspect of one’s life.
“With the many possibilities that a Powerball win can bring, we hope to ignite the imagination of Kiwis, whether that change is big or small.”
The campaign is running across TV, cinema, digital, social, outdoor with more to come over the next few years.

So, he’s got a gps tracker on his wife? Red flag.
Its called Find my Iphone and i personally have it on for my family and closest friends.
very sweet, nice work
All the feels! Such a lovely wee spot. Great work team.
You remade this, but without the drama, the good acting and the nice cinematography… https://vimeo.com/415293544
A drop down in quality.
How come he says her name so many times? who does that?
Where’s the magic?
Aren’t the Lotto ads meant to be so intriguing, inventive and emotional that they make me imagine what I would do if I won?
How are those ads similar? I honestly don’t get that?
And to Mister Bullock – very well done. I’m thinking of how you could have played the script out differently but I think this is very well done. It has a light touch, great performances.
Where is the section? Looks like north of. Auckland… ?
Great brand platform. A product full of wonder. Big budget. Unfortunately, epic fail.
…Brett and Mike.
The Agency Photocopier approves of this photocopy
Nice insight and shot well.
Please refrain from approving photocopies without my prior approval.
People here do love their homes!
Cute story, well told.
How did someone get paid to come up with this? It’s a nonsensical minute of TV, with red flags everywhere.
This is so standard. Bland. Where’s all the special-ness gone?
this is super cool
Not every one is a first division winner. But do play again.
This is about as exciting as my house moving show.
Gives me good feels.
Great ad, wouldn’t it be lovely to buy a house for our four grown up children.
Seriously boring and under nourished. Time for the Monkeys.
Ha. Sounds like someone at the Monkeys is bored of making repeats and looking for a new challenge…
Why does Fred the neighbour on the left when the house owner drives up not have an hedge.?
Now some of the above comments make sense, trying to drum up some business through a clever ‘comments on the blog’ strategy…
Identical to National Lottery. My big question – who moves/buys a house without consulting their partner?
Carol
Pirate ship.
Armoured Truck.
Lost Ticket.
Treasure Hunt.
Then those other two rubbish ones.
Tus one is one of those.
Beautiful
No-one.

This is the exactly the same dream I had to move my mothers house to her place of birth overlooking the ocean in the beautiful far north. Where she can spend her final years on her original land. ( WHENUA ). I belive this can be a possibility.

Feel good story. Lots of houses – old and new – being moved weekly so on trend and relatable. Would love to have the opportunity to do this too.
Ultimately Tortoise and The Hare role playing out!! Shaking the rumours about winning Lotto Powerball. Stunning New Zealand backdrop.
Am very intrigued by the beach location the house overlooks. Can you share the name of the spot pls?
Looks like Pakiri to me.
The theme of the series is “imagine”, which of course means actually using your imagination but by some of the uncharitable comments here, seems many don’t have even that talent. Boring lives you must lead
Fun ad, what’s been nagging me is who the actress is. I swear I’ve seen her before but can’t remember where. I’m not sure if she’s an old Shorty star or not. Anyone know?
