Vogel’s is the bread that Kiwis do more for in latest campaign via DDB Group Aotearoa
Goodman Fielder and DDB Group Aotearoa have launched a new campaign for Vogel’s. The campaign puts Vogel’s in the spotlight as the iconic and adored loaf of bread that Kiwis will do more for.
Fate takes an unexpected turn when a grocery order is accidentally dropped off at the wrong address and the Kiwi hero in the film Gareth embarks on a courageous retrieval mission from a somewhat intimidating neighbour’s house.
Says Freddie Coltart, creative director at DDB Aotearoa: “Kiwis are famously laid-back about most things, but we defend our Vogel’s. This is a bread that sees Kiwis argue over the ‘correct’ toasting times.
“So, when the neighbours accidently bread-nap Gareth’s Original Mixed Grain, he’s going to do something about it, like any true Vogel’s eater would.”
Jesper Poulsen, head of marketing – baking and meals, at Goodman Fielder says this campaign rings true for many – those who know Vogel’s, know it is worth it: “Nothing quite compares to Vogel’s. From all walks of life, we all can agree it’s more than just an ordinary slice of bread; it holds a coveted place as unmatched staple in the Kiwi pantry.”
The campaign is running across TV and digital.

Funniest spot I’ve seen in yonks. Good stuff.
Funny – good stuff
Funny
Ted Lassoo at his best
This cheered me up. Well done all.
Very very funny. Love it, and it does it’s job as a product reminder when one is in the supermarket
Agree with the (ddb) comments above. It is funny. Just doesn’t feel very iconically kiwi though.
Great stuff! And so nice to see some other creatives from DDB working on the TVC’s for once.
So fun, gave me a giggle
Well done, this had me laughing out loud.
Perfectly cast and a great performance (unlike the latest Lotto spot).
and the actual Vogels
Great performance
Not what you’d expect from bread ads
This is cool. Love it when clients buy into work like this.
lots lotsa lols
Go Katie and cass. Great work
A genuinely funny, well-scripted, well-acted, well-directed ad. The script is great but it would have taken a brave client to buy it because it’s so dependent on how it’s filmed and acted. Hats off!
This slaps.
Good work, wish I made that.
Silly and fun. I loved it. Well done to all involved.
Nice
To the absolute crap that’s dropped this week. More of this please.
You can tell the client took a chance and it really paid off. Congrats on all levels. Clients, suits, creatives and craft. A win for all.
Did you send me a thank you loaf ?
Just doesn’t feel like the Vogel’s brand to me. More LiftPlus (if that still exists)?
Dear Colleagues,
This week we’re dropping some Ted Lasso inspired work for Vogel’s. It’s pretty good, we like the humour. Client eyes will be on this work and how it is received. With this in mind the senior leadership team would be grateful if you could jump on to Campaign Brief and drop a positive comment. The last piece went down like a Green MP at Fieldays and we can not have a repeat. Try not to make it too obvious.
Many thanks,
DDB SLT
I cackled
Best thing on TV, best bread in nz.
Cheap as too $4.50 to $5
How do they pay the rent?
Just spat my coffee… brilliant.
Who is the actor holding the toast he’d make a great Rigf Raff in Rocky Hortoe
Funniest ad I’ve ever seen
I loved it!
