Photographer Sacha Stejko wins prestigious awards with portrait series

Esteemed advertising photographer Sacha Stejko has reinforced her position among the industry’s most revered photographers with her multi-award-winning series “The Fencer”.
The portrait series has achieved three international wins – the Communication Arts Award of Excellence, Production Paradise’s Spotlight Award in the Sports category, and reaffirmed Stejko’s place as one of Lürzer’s Archive’s Top 200 BEST Ad Photographers.
The international success of the series, starring competitive New Zealand fencer Detroit Evans, is a testament to Stejko’s mastery in manipulating light to capture powerful moments.

Says Stejko: “I was so taken with the sport of fencing – how elegant and regal it is in its movement. There is also something so intriguing about the anonymity of the mask. Not being able to see the opponent’s face puts more focus on the fencer’s form and stature.”
Shot in black and white, the series is a celebration of both the demanding athleticism of fencing and the primal survival instincts from which it was born.
The series’ recognition across various global advertising award bodies reflects Stejko’s infallible drive and dedication to honing her craft.
