Tourism New Zealand: No Place Like It On Earth

When New Zealand reopened after covid, it needed a big comeback to put it back on the map as a global travel destination. In its time of need, Tourism New Zealand turned to famous Kiwi ambassador, Oscar-winning filmmaker, Taika Waititi. But, he was too busy filming his pirate show, Our Flag Means Death for HBO Max. So they deployed their trademark Kiwi ingenuity and humour to showcase New Zealand’s beautiful destinations and exciting activities another way. This resulted in a meta film production where the making of the Tourism New Zealand film became the Tourism New Zealand film, successfully reminding the world that there’s really ‘no place like it on earth’ for tourists, pirates and body doubles.
