The Radio Bureau appoints Alistair Jamison as new CEO as it takes on advocacy function
The Radio Bureau (TRB) has today announced a set of changes to strengthen its role as the expert in audio media planning and execution in Aotearoa, New Zealand. From today TRB will begin to expand its remit to represent the growing digital audio market and will take on the advocacy function previously held by the Radio Broadcasters Association (RBA). The changes are designed to future proof TRB’s offering to agencies and advertisers, and ensure that audio remains top of mind.
Alistair Jamison (pictured) has been appointed CEO of TRB to lead the evolution, moving from his current role as chief executive of the RBA. Current TRB general manager, Peter Richardson has been appointed as finance manager.
Says Jamison: “I’m thrilled to take on this expanded remit to grow audio as a channel. There’s such a wealth of great content out there, and we know Kiwis love listening to it. It’s our job to help agencies and advertisers better understand and access the commercial opportunities those audiences represent.”
Michael Boggs, CEO of NZME says the media landscape has become increasingly complex for advertisers to navigate: “These changes will further strengthen advocacy not just for radio but also of digital audio as one of the fastest growing media platforms. We are excited at the prospect of TRB elevating the understanding of audio solutions and expanding the services it provides, in turn providing agencies and clients with improved business outcomes.”
MediaWorks CEO Wendy Palmer says having looked at the relative functions of TRB and the RBA, it became clear that the audio advocacy function of RBA sits more naturally alongside the day-to-day operation of TRB: “The audio industry provides robust audiences and a huge range of options for advertisers. Al will do a fantastic job in leading the evolution of TRB, and the combination of Peter’s vast experience and Al’s knowledge of the needs of agencies and clients provide the perfect leadership mix for TRB to provide world class audio solutions that reflect today’s audio market.”
The RBA under chair Jana Rangooni will continue to fulfil a governance function for its commercial radio members.
