Burnett Foundation Aotearoa launches ‘The Ins & Outs’ sex education campaign via YoungShand

Burnett Foundation Aotearoa has launched a new online sex education tool for gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men, in partnership with NZ independent agency YoungShand.

 

The integrated campaign and site features animations and illustrations from iconic illustrator and advocate H O R N O, collaborating with the team from his studio in Buenos Aires, with animations completed by Josh Trotter whose previous credits include Billie Eilish, Childish Gambino and Rick & Morty.

Says Mickey Power, head of marketing, communications and fundraising at Burnett Foundation Aotearoa: “Sex education in Aotearoa tends to be heterosexual in nature, leaving most young gay and bisexual guys without the information they need to safely navigate their way through this new world of sex. 59% learn most of what they know from porn, which as we know, is not reality. That’s why we created The Ins & Outs, written by peers based on their own experiences navigating their sexuality in a playful, cheeky and accessible way – we’re talking about sex after all. I’m delighted with what we’ve achieved in partnership with YoungShand.”

Says Corey Chalmers, executive creative director, YoungShand: “It’s been a joyous journey creating this well-overdue resource with Mickey and the team. It needed to be safe enough for people to look at without fear of persecution or secrecy, and the response so far has shown we’ve got it right.”

The site can found at www.insandouts.org.nz and is supported by online video, outdoor, digital display, and social platforms including TikTok, Reddit and Grindr.
