The Table invites women of Aotearoa on a POWER WALK in new social media campaign via Daylight

To mark the launch of Mercer New Zealand’s female financial literacy platform The Table’s new podcast ‘The Power Walk’, Auckland-based agency Daylight has launched a new influencer-led social media campaign.

The Power Walk, available on both Spotify and Apple Podcasts, is a 30-minute podcast mapped to a walk designed to help Kiwi women take charge of their money.

The social campaign has sparked strong early engagement and is supported by The Table’s full platform of educational resources, live events, and webinars open to any women looking to continue their financial journey.

It’s 2024, and the gender pay gap has remained unchanged for the last decade in Aotearoa. According to the latest Mind the Gap NZ statistics, women earn 9% less than men on average, losing nearly $10 for every $100 a man makes. The situation is far worse for Māori or Pasifika, with the Ministry for Women reporting a staggering 25% gap between Pākehā men and Pacific women.

Says Angela Meyer, gender equity consultant at Mercer: “Taking control of your financial well-being is one of the best things you can do for yourself as a woman. That’s why we set up The Table, to create a safe space for wāhine to learn about money. And this campaign is a great way to join our movement.”

Hosted by comedian Courtney Dawson, The Power Walk taps into the global trend of ‘Hot Girl Walks.’ Except, it channels this energy into hot topics of conversation to help get women financially ahead.

From your relationship with money and asking for a pay rise through to preparing for parenthood and planning for retirement – the content is designed to get you fired up as you release endorphins pacing the streets.

The Power Walk also features a number of leading Kiwi women who speak openly and unapologetically about money. This includes Aoteraoa’s Retirement Commissioner, Jane Wrightson, and Te Kahukura Boynton, the founder of Māori Millionaire. Through practical insights, they demystify finances to inspire women to save more, earn more, and take charge.

Says Zoe Scheltema, senior business director at Daylight: “What I love about this podcast is it’s accessible to all women at every stage of life. Empowering us with knowledge and straightforward actions. So chuck your sneakers on, and give it a listen – it’s an easy first step.”
