Rānui House, offering free, temporary accommodation to patients and families who need to travel to Christchurch for life-saving medical treatment, has launched a new fundraising campaign via creative agency Plato and production company Howler.

Owned and managed by the Bone Marrow Cancer Trust, it’s a home away from home that means families can stay together under the same roof during a very challenging time.

But with Rānui House at capacity, and families being turned away every day, more needed to be done. Rānui Apartments, a brand new, 43-apartment complex will open in November and will triple the number of rooms that the Trust can offer to families in need. Families like the Raine’s from Kaikoura, who were able to continue life together while mum Kylie had a double mastectomy and implant surgery at Christchurch Hospital.

The family featured in the campaign ‘Get Time Time Together’ that went live this week, with the aim of raising money towards the opening and running of Rānui Apartments.

Says Hamish Grieve, head of creative, Plato: “Collaboration was key to bringing this piece of work to life. This is the second project we’ve worked on with Howler, and we’re lucky to have found in Pete and Zyanya (and their team) a creative partner with a passion for craft and storytelling. They got our vision and like us, are passionate about contributing to such a worthy cause.”

Says Nick Harvey, CEO, Plato:“We love being able to make a difference in the Ōtautahi community that we work with and live in. The Bone Marrow Cancer Trust provide such an important facility for kiwi families going through the toughest of challenges. It was a privilege for us to be asked to help, and we’ve delivered a piece of work that’s raising much needed funds, and that we’re all very proud of.”
