OMG New Zealand promotes Angela Spain to MD, OMG Content as Gina McKinnon steps into CEO, Content role for OMG APAC

Omnicom Media Group (OMG) has promoted Angela Spain, GM of PR, OMG Content New Zealand, to the role of Managing Director overseeing the group’s content offerings in the market – FUSE, DRUM and Hearts & Science’s content team, effective immediately.
Spain (above left) will report into Nikki Grafton, CEO, OMG New Zealand.
Says Grafton: “Angela brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to our content offering in New Zealand. A dynamic leader with a hunger to innovate, Angela’s leadership and expertise will be instrumental in scaling OMG’s agency as a platform model, connecting content, media and commerce to create transformative experiences for our clients and our business.”
Spain has more than 20 years of experience in marketing communications, content creation, PR, stakeholder engagement, and crisis management. In 2020, she founded specialist PR consultancy Archer to advise businesses and organisations across a range of sectors.
The promotion comes on the back of Gina McKinnon (above right) transitioning fully into the role of CEO, Content for OMG APAC. She reports to Tony Harradine, CEO, OMG Asia Pacific.
McKinnon and her teams across APAC will harness OMG’s global scale and partnerships with renowned creators to help clients amplify their messages, leaning on OMG’s sports and gaming-focused agency brands in the UK and US for guidance and inspiration.
Says McKinnon: “We are developing centres of excellence across APAC and leveraging these hubs to further expand our offerings to clients, partnering with them to drive business growth. Having a seasoned leader like Angela at the helm of New Zealand will ensure the teams are creating distinct stories to create memorable and valuable experiences.”
McKinnon has been with OMG for more than a decade and was previously the group’s CEO, Content in New Zealand. She also held the role of FUSE New Zealand’s Managing Director. With over 20 years’ experience in communication, content, sports marketing, and PR, McKinnon has worked in communications and content agencies, in-house across corporate, consumer, and government brands.
OMG Content is Omnicom’s partnership, social, and entertainment division that operates at the intersection of advertising, entertainment, and media. Its content offer includes social media strategy, content creation, media partnerships, influencer management, sponsorships, public relations, and activations.
