Te Herenga Waka encourages students to ‘Make Wellington Your Campus’ in new work via 81

Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington has partnered up with creative agency EightyOne to launch a new effort to make Wellington Aotearoa’s student capital.
What and where to study are the biggest choices of a school leaver’s life to date. While the payoff on what students choose might not be realised until after graduation, and is often subject to change along the way, choosing the right where has an immediate and substantial impact on a student’s quality of life, and study.
In addition to a world class learning experience and strong connections to unlock students’ future career paths, Te Herenga Waka has something most other options don’t – Wellington’s welcoming, diverse and exciting vibe.

Across its three campuses, Victoria and Wellington blend seamlessly into each other – so students can plug themselves into all the city has to offer as their world expands after high school.
A national social and OOH campaign, “Make Wellington Your Campus” features a range of real students in iconic Wellington locations (Cuba St, Mt Vic, Island Bay) – beautifully captured by photographer Steve Boniface – to show how their curricular and extra-curricular combine to add more to their student experience.
Says Kate Baker, Associate Director, Marketing at Victoria University: “With Te Herenga Waka at the heart of the city, students don’t just attend university—they become part of a vibrant, diverse community that inspires them every day, and find their sense of belonging. This campaign gives our future students a taste of what their Wellington student experience will be when they arrive in 2026.”
