The Sweetshop Signs Director Beatrice Pegard

The Sweetshop has added filmmaker Beatrice Pegard to the New Zealand and Australian roster.
Pegard brings a signature blend of charm, cinematic style, and comedic precision to the table.
Pegard invites us into her visual world, one that’s rich and colourful in whimsical oddities (in all the right ways), irreverence and a touch of surrealism. Whilst always with a focus on performances, Pegard’s confident style and comic lens that sharpens her perspective allows for a nuanced tone that is as visually striking as it is layered.
Says Ben Dailey, MD/EP The Sweetshop NZ: “Beatrice’s work achieves a sense of geniality and warmth that brings the viewer into her world…and, it’s funny. Hard to do and even harder to master. We are excited about Bea’s future with Sweetshop.”
Says Greg Fyson, Global Head of Director Development: “I’m absolutely thrilled to welcome Beatrice Pegard to The Sweetshop. She’s an extraordinary talent whose style fuses bold craft with real emotional intelligence and humour. And with a PhD to her name, she makes me look smarter and cooler by association”.
A creative chameleon, Pegard seamlessly moves between genres, cultures, and formats. From short films and music videos to commercials for brands like Toyota, Nike, Ikea, Visa, Amex, and Lidl.
Pegard is a director who isn’t afraid to take risks, creating pieces that not only break the mould, but make waves. In particular, her work with long-time collaborator, Grizzly Bear, on their Mourning Sound video, which cheekily flipped the male gaze, garnered over one million views worldwide. She has also gained recognition for her short films, which have been selected for major international festivals such as SXSW.
Pegard is now available for commercial, branded, and short-form projects across New Zealand and Australia through The Sweetshop.
