Blind Low Vision campaign blatantly uses puppies for non-puppy related donations via YoungShand

Blind Low Vision NZ has long been known for its work with guide dogs, but a new campaign developed by YoungShand, packed with adorable trainee puppies, aims to raise awareness—and donations—for the wider cause.

Blind Low Vision NZ does so much more than just train guide dogs, but it’s the fur that gets the most attention, and the most money from donations. Going with what works, adorable trainee puppies were unashamedly used to open hearts – and wallets.

Says Bernadette Murphy, head of fundraising, YoungShand: “The puppies get all the attention, so it’s time they spent less effort being adorable and more time shaking their cute money makers for the wider cause.”

The TVC was directed by Harriet Maire at Film Construction, featuring Blind Low Vision NZ employee, Milton, himself a person with low vision, making his acting debut, alongside six trainee “stunt” puppies.

Says Corey Chalmers, ECD, YoungShand: “I’ve never had so many people wanting to attend a small shoot before. Harriet was amazing. It was a total puppyfest, and they did a great job, apart from often falling asleep during takes. We’re hoping our totally unapologetic use of cuteness will convince people to donate to a wonderful bunch of people doing incredible things. Not just training guide dogs.”
