Good evening and welcome to Heart of the City, Restaurant Month. Tonight, we are serving a campaign that’s equal parts wit and appetite appeal. To start, we have the campaign line, “Don’t Try This at Home,” which is delicately balanced on the familiar cadence of safety disclaimers, but flipped to encourage dining out. It’s clever, sharp and just a little rebellious. The amuse-bouche of good copywriting.

For your main, may I recommend the content that sees a chef sharpening his knife without breaking eye contact with the camera, as he urges you to eat out this month, all while making you feel the real risk is staying at home.

And for dessert, a visual treat. Delicious and beautifully shot out-of-home visuals, plated on campaign line printed crockery. Bon appétit and compliments to the team who cooked up this delicious treat.

“When Everyone Has the Same Phone” for Samsung NZ had me from the moment I heard the soundtrack, perfectly silly and lovely. The cinematography was intentional and clean, with some really beautiful frames throughout from Marty Williams.

Overall, it’s just nice to see a piece of film that doesn’t whack the logo in within the first few seconds. It’s okay to make the viewer work a little, and wait for that rug-pull moment now and then.

Bravo. I actually wouldn’t mind having some bloke in a thermal hold my hand on a Monday too.
