Make Your Mahi Matter: Auckland creatives invited to pitch for good at Kind by Design’s Pro Bono Pitch Night, Thursday 18 September

Kind by Design New Zealand is calling on Auckland’s top creative minds to use their talent super powers for good at its inaugural Pro Bono Pitch Night on Thursday 18 September.

The idea behind this purpose-driven event is to connect generous people skilled in branding, marketing, design, digital, PR and social media with grassroots non-profits seeking creative support to amplify their impact. It’s a fresh take on the traditional pitch format – think Dragon’s Den, but with heart. Instead of pitching for funding, non-profits are pitching for creative time and talent.

Kind By Design New Zealand was co-founded by Alaina McGregor (pictured above), a PR professional with 20 years’ experience and current Social Impact Manager at Southern Cross Health Trust, and Richard Gray-Smith, Director of Sales and Marketing at Inside Recruitment. Alaina previously led 10×10 Philanthropy Aotearoa, raising over $300,000 in donations and $500,000 in pro bono services for early-stage non-profits between 2019 and 2024. Now, Alaina and Richard are inviting Auckland’s creative community to be part of the next wave of impact.

The event will feature pitches from TimeOut Charity, Oke Charity, Woven Earth, Debtfix Foundation, and BirdCare Aotearoa – each seeking creative collaborators to help amplify their kaupapa.

“We’re inviting creative professionals to come together, be inspired by social innovation, and connect their creativity with communities,” says McGregor. “Specifically, we’re looking for people skilled in campaign strategy, brand development, design, copywriting, social media and PR to support non-profits tackling some of New Zealand’s biggest social and environmental challenges.

“For agencies or in-house teams with a volunteer day, this is also a chance to pool those hours and take on a meaningful project that is perfectly aligned to your skill set.”

Kind by Design’s Pro Bono Pitch Night event is free to attend, with drinks and catering provided thanks to generous sponsors.
