1. What made you get into advertising?
I sort of fell into the industry via an early career start in broadcasting in my home country of New Zealand. I really enjoyed working on brand partnerships and activations within this space. The creativity and the chance to work on different clients and sectors were key drivers.
2. Which piece of work are you most proud of, and why?
Our work for the ABC show ‘The Piano’ last year was a career highlight of late. We turned Circular Quay into ‘Circular Keys’ via a 15m long interactive piano during Vivid. I love that it was inclusive, easy to participate and understand experience, whether you stepped onto the keys or watched the joy of others.
3. What’s the biggest challenge you face in your role right now?
Our industry is changing fast and I think the biggest challenge is making sure we champion creativity and its impact to deliver behavior change, and not getting wholly caught up in the latest platform, workflow or tool.
4. What’s the most recent thing you’ve learned – professionally or personally?
Two things can be true at once! Being able to hold oppositional points of view helps with recognising that situations have many layers rather than being simple binaries.
