GetVerified calls on NZ businesses to lift its defences against financial crime in new ‘Welcome to the fight back’ campaign via Contagion
Not-for-profit anti-scam solutions provider GetVerified has launched a new national campaign with integrated creative and media agency Contagion, calling on New Zealand businesses and government departments to take note as fraud accelerates and long-trusted safeguards begin to fail.
Under the banner Welcome to the fight back, the campaign responds to a simple and uncomfortable truth. Technology has moved faster than most organisations and their people have adapted. AI-enabled scams can now convincingly impersonate senior leaders, forge documentation and bypass established payment processes, leaving even well-run organisations exposed.
The risk is no longer abstract. Earlier this year, US$25 million was stolen from a Hong Kong company after scammers used AI to deepfake its CEO, authorising fraudulent payments that appeared legitimate at every step. Cases like this are becoming more frequent, and the impact is growing larger.
GetVerified’s account verification exists to even the playing field. It allows organisations to confirm bank account details directly at the source, before money moves, removing reliance on judgement calls at the moment they matter most.
The campaign is live across premium digital, airport environments, radio and targeted business media, reaching CFOs, finance teams, boards and public sector leaders responsible for high-value and high-volume payments.
Dean Taylor, CEO of Contagion, said the moment called for a clear signal to business: “Fraud has moved faster than most organisations realise. The issue isn’t negligence, it’s that the old signals can no longer be relied on. What’s encouraging is seeing banks and industry aligning around shared approaches like account verification. This work is about recognising the threat and actively closing the gap.”
Rather than amplifying fear, the work takes a steady, confident stance. Welcome to the fight back is about helping New Zealand organisations respond with clarity, lifting the standard of how payments are checked and protected across the country.
Says Duncan Robertson, CEO, GetVerified: “Fighting scams and fraud can feel like a costly arms race. We can offer an easy to adopt, simple to use solution that uses real-time data sourced direct from banks to verify accounts.
“Account verification allows businesses to strengthen their processes, streamline onboarding journeys and give them greater confidence when they make payments. It’s heartening to hear how it’s helping on multiple fronts.”
The campaign is live now.
