YouTube’s most watched videos for 2009

Picture 502.pngYouTube today announced its first official Most Watched lists – a look at 2009 through the videos New Zealanders have been watching and searching for. Among the videos most watched by Kiwis this year were Air New Zealand’s cabin crew baring all in body paint; the music video to Smashproof’s hit single ‘Brother’; and a video featuring a fast food order put to music.

GoogleNew Zealand’s Annie Baxter says: “From a new singer’s debut on theworld stage to homegrown New Zealand hip-hop, in 2009 YouTube hasoffered Kiwis a way to share in the big and small moments that touchmillions of people around New Zealand and the world.”

Inaddition to compiling the Most Watched lists, YouTube also examined thebillions of queries that people typed into YouTube search in 2009 toidentify some of the fastest-rising search terms for each month. LikeGoogle Zeitgeist, these lists reveal the interests, issues, andentertainment that connected the world throughout the year.
