New Zealand’s Mark D’Arcy talks social by design at Facebook Studio Live event
Hundreds of creative and media agency professionals from Australia and New Zealand headed to CarriageWorks in Sydney last week to attend Facebook Studio Live, an interactive agency event.
Facebook global leaders including New Zealand’s Mark D’Arcy,(pictured left) Director of Global Creative Solutions and Lars Rasmussen, (pictured below) Director of Engineering flew in for the event to share the latest strategies for creating campaigns that are social by design and to talk about Facebook’s hacking culture.
The event focused on how agencies can build unique and rich experiences that transform consumer interactions with the brands they work with.
Each day, billions of stories are shared on Facebook, many of them about brands and business.
Says D’Arcy: “We are moving from a model of advertising by interruption to advertising by permission and people really care about the things they really really care about, and that includes brands. To build relationships with fans, brands need to provide content that is useful, relevant and timely. Before launching a social marketing strategy, agencies should consider whether consumers would firstly care about particular content and secondly whether they’d want to share it.”
Agencies were encouraged to learn from others in sessions led by brands that have integrated Facebook campaigns into the heart of their marketing strategies.
D’Arcy added: “We want agencies to embrace this way of thinking and the social by design concept by putting people at the heart of marketing strategies to deliver powerful and connected experiences.”
These organic stories drive word of mouth and are extremely effective at getting others to engage and take action. Agencies that help clients create and amplify their stories about their brands will continue to come out ahead.
