Whybin\TBWA Auckland bolsters planning team hiring David McIndoe in head of planning role
Whybin\TBWA has today announced the appointment of David McIndoe to the role of head of planning for the agency.
McIndoe, who starts on the 18th of September, replaces Simon Bird following his decision to pursue a new opportunity.
Says Todd McLeay, CEO of Whybin\TBWA: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome David on board as part of the senior management team. His wealth of experience and collaborative approach to planning is perfectly suited to the new direction of the agency.”
McIndoe has spent 12 years honing his planning nouse in the world of advertising and describes himself as a long-serving steward of banks, broadcasters and beer brands alike. His credentials include multiple Effies, as well as being part of the team that won a prestigious gold Creative Effectiveness Lion for Steinlager’s Believe campaign at Cannes earlier this year.
Says McIndoe: “TBWA\ is poised for another big chapter in its story. It’s an exciting proposition to become part of an agency which is on the up. Needless to say, I’m thrilled to be part of the team making that a reality.”
Bird will work closely with McIndoe in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
Of his decision to leave Bird says, “After a great couple of years with TBWA\, an opportunity has come up that was too good to ignore. I’ll leave with plenty of fond memories and good friends. And I’m delighted to hand over the role to David who I’ve known and respected for many years.”
McLeay says that Bird has made a huge contribution to the agency, especially his work around the ANZ merger, Tourism New Zealand’s special interest groups and the Bell Tea pitch.
Says McLeay: “While we’re sorry to see him go, we wish him all the best in his new endeavours.”

nice work D-Mac. Another good hire.
Well deserved mate, enjoy the new gig.
Not yet McIndoe, not yet. Losing 2 Degrees is going to take quite a bit to recover from. Like a real large business win that make me eat my words.
Best agency planner in Auckland by a country mile. And a really nice bloke too. Thought DDB would never let him go. Great hire T&T.
Goodonyamate
The events that led to the loss of 2degrees is a classic case of what not to do when you turn up to run an agency. And TradeMe is far from a filler.
So…Suits next in the firing line?
Nice work gents.
Congrats D-Mac, you’ll kill it. Great planner going to a good home.
Hi Five David – well deserved…
