Val Morgan New Zealand announces Cannes Young Lions winners in Film and Media
As the official representative for Cannes Lions festival of Creativity, Val Morgan New Zealand announced the winners of its national Young Lions Competition at the Young Lions event held last night in Auckland.
The competition gives NZ’s up-and-coming creative and media professionals the opportunity to compete on the world stage in the prestigious Young Lions Competition at Cannes in June.
The entrants were given a brief for Parkinsons Awareness week and had 24 hours to respond in the Media competition and 48 hours to respond in the film competition. This replicates the format of the Cannes Young Lions Competition with
the teams vying for a place to compete against the world’s best young talent from 75 countries involved in Young Lions globally.
Says Suzie Lamborn, sales director at Val Morgan: “The support from the industry was fantastic with 49 teams entering the competition. The level of exceptional young talent in our industry is showcased through this competition with the judges all commenting on the high level of creativity and strategic thinking from the teams. We are indebted to Parkinsons NZ and our judges for the time and energy they put into the competition.”
The two winning teams selected from the stellar line up of entries were Amy Multrus (Total Media) and Azriel Chan (OMD) taking out the Media category and Lennie Galloway and Thomas Gledhill from FCB who took out the Film category. Both teams win a trip to the Cannes Festival of Creativity courtesy of Val Morgan.
Says Stephanie Clare, acting chief executive / clinical leader: “The whole team at Parkinson’s New Zealand was amazed and thrilled at being the chosen charity for the Val Morgan NZ Young Lions Competition 2015. We all got a huge boost to know that Parkinson’s was going to have so many young, talented and innovative minds working on awareness of Parkinson’s.”
Young Lions has been run by the Cannes festival organizers since 1992, last year 75 countries were represented with over 1,100 young lions attending the Festival.

The judges must have been aware of the original ad, so obviously think this new creative idea is different. Case closed.
Just watched the original and the ‘new’ version that won. I can only presume that the judges had just somehow never seen it or didn’t think to carry out a quick 10 second google search.
To say that it is a rip off is an understatement – I would be seriously thinking about changing the winners if I were on the judging panel!
