YoungShand appoints award-winning writer / director Kent Briggs to senior creative position

YoungShand has appointed award-winning writer and director Kent Briggs to senior creative role.

Briggs joins the growing agency after recently completing the TVNZ series The Social Media Virgin, an experiment to see if he can get to one million followers in 100 days. As part of the team that created the much-lauded Most Entertaining Police Video for Ogilvy, a storyliner on ‘Kura’ Series 3 and maker of the award-winning series Who Killed Lucy the Poodle and Sextortion, Briggs is no stranger to creating work that resonates in culture.

Says Corey Chalmers, ECD, YoungShand: “Kent is a true creative who makes stuff that lives in the real world, not just ad award case studies. He’s a writer/director who creates fresh, unexpected and above all, entertaining work. We share many perspectives about how our industry can make brands add to culture, not just interrupt it. He’s another unique voice we’re adding to the YoungShand world – and we’re having stupid good fun already.”

Says Briggs: “When I’d freelanced with YoungShand in the past, I was always impressed with their appreciation for the creative sauce. So, when Scott (Maddox) gave me the call and mentioned Corey was coming onboard, I was in. All of the departments here are pretty bloody flash and brimming with talented, lovely people. Now, I get to play here full time and can’t wait to see what we cook up together – I’m stoked.”

Says Emma Dalton, general manager, YoungShand: “Kent has had a few stints at YoungShand in a freelance capacity and has always delivered, so when the time came to grow our team he was the first person we called. He brings a unique perspective to the work from his diverse background in directing and writing and he also has an infectious energy that is great to have in the building.”
