Special Design launches new design packages to support New Zealand start-ups
Special Design is offering a dynamic proposition that aims to support a growing number of startup businesses and entrepreneurs.
New Zealand is currently ranked 30th in the world for successful startups. One of the biggest contributing factors to success, even in the earliest days of a new business idea, is the consideration of brand — from purpose to product. And now, more than ever, New Zealand’s future relies on the smart business of today. Special Design is backing these businesses.
Says Heath Lowe, founder and executive design director of Special: “We were a startup once, at the beginning of the GFC. That was tough and we had to focus on the essentials. We relate to the growing number of new businesses who are at the beginning of their journey, or at a pivotal point, right now.”
Special has launched four new ‘design packages’ to enable early stage ventures to more easily access necessary design services. Each package has been costed with these businesses in mind, and can be adapted for specific needs along their growth path:
1. PLOT
Special begins with some early design exploration to support investment considerations.
2. PROVISION
The agency works with the company to detail the essentials it needs to get going, bringing the brand strategy to life, from design concepts through to a simple brand.
3. PROPEL
Special develop some light, efficient brand strategy support, name exploration and design concepts through to a simple brand identity toolkit.
4. PROSPER
The agency dials up requirements based on the brand / product offering, developing a comprehensive brand strategy, naming (if required), visual identity and guidelines.
Special has had significant experience helping transform emerging brands into thriving businesses. For example, the award-winning, now-global fairtrade drinks company Karma Cola began its business journey with Special, using the team’s skills in brand creation and packaging. BraveFace now has a loyal following for its anti-anxiety supplement. Special developed the brand’s name, market insights, identity and packaging.
“From our experience, we believe the clarity of an innovative new offering relies greatly on getting the foundations right. We’re continually impressed by what innovative New Zealanders can offer to the world, and we’re committing our skills to help the next generation of these businesses succeed.”
