Church Road Winery promotes TOM wines in new animated film via Ogilvy Auckland and Cirkus
Church Road Winery has launched a new animated film for its vintage 2013 range of exclusive TOM wines via Ogilvy & Mather Auckland and Cirkus.
Ogilvy Auckland creative director Rupert Hancock approached Cirkus to help build the animated film.
The team, with director Anna Lee at the helm, took the traditional 2D animation approach when tasked to visually interpret a poem that describes Church Road’s winemaking process. The foundation of the animation are 70 bespoke illustrations which were gifted by Church Road’s winemaker Chris Scott to invited guests at the TOM pre-launch event in May.
After presenting and approval of each of the 70 frames to the agency and client, animator Ty Jepsen commenced to cell-animate the desired action of the frames of the approved storyboard, such as the wine being swished about in a glass or hands morphing into a bird. These animation passes guided illustrators Rebecca Tan and Vittorio Suhendro to create the appropriate coloured in-between frames. Therefore, every single frame of this film was digitally painted by the Cirkus team.
