DDB New Zealand appoints Nikki McKelvie as group business director
DDB New Zealand announced today that Nikki McKelvie has been appointed as group business director.
McKelvie comes aboard from Ogilvy where she joined as a group account director in 2006, was promoted to business director in 2007 and then client service director in 2009.
She has also worked at Saatchi & Saatchi and M&C Saatchi Ltd working on blue chip clients including TVNZ, Coca-Cola, L&P, Powerade, Fairfax, BP, Sanitarium and Kiwibank.
McKelvie will be leading the Warehouse and SKY accounts at DDB.
DDB managing director Justin Mowday says McKelvie is a real talent with a wealth of experience to offer.
Says Mowday: “I’ve known Nikki for the last 10 years and watched as she’s grown into one of only a few proper, mature and experienced account leaders in our industry. She brings with her a wealth of both brand and retail experience, and has the right balance of bold smarts and pragmatism that we need to make our clients successful. Nikki’s track record and stash of awards speaks for itself, which is just as well because Nikki’s too humble to ever tell you about them herself!”
McKelvie has won a plethora of Gold Awards for Lemon & Paeroa at Axis and AWARD, the Grande Orca for L&P 2006/07 and People’s Choice Award and was selected as the NZ representative at the Ogilvy Asia Pacific conference AdChamps, Sri Lanka 2008.

Awesome news for DDB, Nikki is a legend and respected by those who have worked with her.
Congrats Nikki, DDB have lucked in.
Nice one Aunty Nitty.
Ok, after Mowday’s comments about an attempted Ogilvy coup in StopPress this week, I’m wondering if this is related. If so, I’d love to hear the gossip, I knew nothing about it.
You don’t lose people like Nikki just like that.
After the departure of Damon (which, to be fair, sounded about as plausible as taking a year long sabbatical to a McDonald’s University) I suspect that the knives are out and the dictatorship has released the enforcement officers to ‘culturally cleanse’ Stanley Street.
Can someone please fill in the gaps.
Great talent, ddb nabs another good one.
One of the very best in the business. Congrats Nik. And DDB.
Well done, Nikki, and great hire, DDB!
