The second commercial is based on a true story from Christchurch of a couple who wanted a dream trip to Egypt.

Egypt had been her inspiration since she was a child and one day she wanted to be in a place where she opened her curtains and saw the sun coming over the Pyramids.  Christchurch Ferrymead House of Travel made that come true.

The couple are very real and so is their story. Creative director Roy Meares met them in Christchurch this month to show them the commercial and there were tears.

There was also praise for the team at Ferrymead who they said “made them part of their family” and inspired them as they planned their trip.

They could not believe how close the commercial was to their experience or that Meares had interpreted their story so perfectly without having met them.

The commercial was filmed in and around Auckland and directed by Flying Fish Gregor Nicholas.  To establish the authenticty of the location a full Egyptian bazaar was built in the inner city late one Sunday night.

The House of Travel campaign reintroduces Lucy (actress Tanya Horo) as the warm engaging ‘face’ of House of Travel and consultant.

The first commercial ‘Dinosaurs’ that has played over the last month has seen an upsurge in enquiries at the House of Travel stores.

Says Celeste Ryall, customer engagement director, House of Travel: “The campaign is achieving exactly what we set out to do which was to celebrate our team and let customers know the true value of travel consultants.”
