99 and Kiwibank celebrate the lowest credit card purchase interest rate in the country, by celebrating low interest.
Listening to a mother in law telling you how to live your life, having your pregnancy explained to you, or listening to a co-workers dietary requirements are just a few mind-blowingly low interest moments. About as mind-blowingly low interest as Kiwibank’s credit card interest rate.
Through a series of TV, digital, print, in store and out of home executions, 99 sought to own low interest.
Says Vesna Nixon, head of marketing campaigns, Kiwibank: “We know interest rates aren’t of interest to a lot of Kiwis, so by putting this spin on it, we got a campaign centered around mind-blowingly low interest, that we think is anything but.”
Directed by Zia Mandviwalla, and produced by FINCH, the four 15” TV spots deftly embraced the dry humour that lies in experiencing some of life’s most boring moments. Images of disinterest captured by Troy Goodall, extended the campaign into contextual and OOH settings using even more great talent… including Fred the cat.
Says Mick Stalker, ECD, 99: “It was one of those campaigns where client trust, an amazing cast, and a great director all came together to help create something we’re really proud of. Plus, it made us laugh.”
It seems Kiwis are really interested in low interest – with visitors to Kiwibank’s credit cards website pages and applications for the cards more than doubling since the campaign kicked off on 7th July.
