The advertising industry’s pre-eminent award is once again within reach, as the entry period for the 2021 Effie Awards in association with TVNZ is well under way. Entries close on Tuesday 17 August.
Since 1968, an Effie Award has been recognised by advertisers and agencies worldwide as representing the pinnacle in advertising effectiveness. It identifies the most significant achievement in marketing communications: ideas that work. Winning an Effie Award is about meeting a challenge and succeeding.
This year’s Effie Awards, organised in New Zealand by the Commercial Communications Council (The Comms Council), will be celebrating the impact that winning an Effie has on client/agency relationships, and how effective advertising draws the client and agency closer together.
Says Rupert Price, chief strategy officer, DDB Aotearoa, and member of Effie’s Aotearoa Steering Committee: “Nothing better proves a client and agency are on the same page better than winning an Effie. It shows both partners are pushing in the same direction; using the power of creativity to drive exceptional business or behavioural outcomes for the brand.”
Simon Lendrum, convenor of judging for Effie’s 2021 says that “Effie plays a critical role in building confidence in marketing rigour and demonstration of the power of well-articulated creative strategy, that is brilliantly executed. We can only take ownership of outstanding results when we can also illuminate the path that led to them. Effie is our best opportunity to do this.”
This year’s Effie Awards has seen the introduction of two new categories Most Effective Use of Content and International Marketing. The Most Effective Use of Content category is looking for campaigns that met the client challenge and had a demonstrable impact on business results through a compelling content-led solution. Whilst the International Marketing is looking to recognises marketing campaigns for New Zealand based organisations that were developed here in New Zealand but have run in other countries, but with the specific and sole intent of generating results in New Zealand.
The Comms Council has also launched a competition to celebrating the relationships that birth Effie’s. Special relationships like the one’s agencies have with their clients. They are asking for photo submissions that capture just how close Effie’s can bring an agency and client relationship. The agency and client with the best ‘couple shot’ will win a long lunch for the client and agency.
Entry details are now available online (see below) and will close on 17th August. Winners and finalists will be celebrated and awarded at a gala awards dinner in Auckland on Thursday 28th October 2021.
