Jetstar and dentsu create Jetsocks: The choicest Christmas present ever
To spread a little Christmas chur, Jetstar and dentsu Aotearoa has turned the world’s stinkest Christmas present into the choicest, by creating socks that are actually a $50 Jetstar voucher in disguise.
Jetstar is encouraging people to prank their friends and family and watch with glee as initial disappointment makes way for excitement, and holiday planning.
Unlike regular socks, notorious for being a dud present, ‘Jetsocks’ have been a hit. The campaign launched across Jetstar’s own social channels with support from influencers, and had the online store selling out within minutes.
Says Kelly Ogilvie, marketing manager PR and content NZ: “It’s been another challenging year for the industry, and the team have really enjoyed working on a campaign that’s a bit of fun.”
Says Hadleigh Sinclair, ECD at dentsu: “We set out to create an idea that was a refreshing divergence from the smiley-huggy-Christmas-stuff that comes out come Christmas. It’s great to see Kiwis embracing the fun in the idea, and getting back in the air with their flash orange Jetsocks.”
While Jetsocks have completely sold out, Jetstar says everyone should keep their eyes (and toes) peeled next year.
