DDB Group Aotearoa NZ has strengthened its social and digital offering with the appointment of Sam Snowden to the newly created role of head of social.

Previously social media marketing manager at Southern Cross, Snowden brings a decade of integrated marketing experience across Aotearoa and Australia and has delivered strategic social and digital led content for major global brands such as MINI, PUMA, KFC, BMW and BP.

Adding further depth to DDB Aotearoa’s firepower during a period of growth, the appointment follows client demand for new and effective ways to reach and interact with customers through the ever-changing social landscape.

Priya Patel, DDB Aotearoa Group CEO, says Snowden brings a deep understanding of the role social media plays for brands: “We have huge demand from our clients for creative and unexpected social and digital campaigns and have experienced significant success in this space as demonstrated through work like the Samsung iTest and the Steinlager Alt Blacks. This appointment is a reflection of the growth in this space and our intention to deliver world leading digital and social creative experiences.

“We are delighted to have Sam on board – he has a proven track record of helping brands to leverage social media with great results. We are looking forward to seeing him harness its creative power to deliver best-in-class strategies, and unexpected creative campaigns.”

Snowden will be working across a number of clients including Bluebird, Mobil, Vodafone, Tourism New Zealand and Lion Breweries, to develop and lead their social strategies and create impactful content that will shift the dial.

Having spent over a decade ‘hustling hashtags’, Snowden says he is looking forward to using his experience and skills to futher DDB’s social media business growth: “DDB Aotearoa has an impressive portfolio of iconic clients, a tribe of talented people and the ability to shift seamlessly between epic brand campaigns and intelligent, technically demanding digital projects. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to join such a well-respected agency and am excited to become a trusted partner in delivering unexpected, social media marketing for our clients.”
