Collider’s Spencer Susser uses puppetry brought to life by Christoher Walken for new Acorns TVC

Collider director Spencer Susser has again lent his skills to the world of puppetry, spearheading investment app Acorns’ latest foray.

His previous ventures for the Humane Society International in Save Ralph, Apple’s Make A Movie and even his early work with Snapple, have well and truly cemented in him an ability to tell heightened stories through unique and creative mediums.

Collaborating with Christopher Walken, whose recognisable Queens snap aligns perfectly with the subject matter and embodies the straight-shooting protagonist, Susser entices his audience to listen in to the message at hand – squirrels know wealth!

Although puppetry is an old world artform, there’s a clear integration of sophisticated technologies and processes that have brought it seamlessly into modernity.‘Growth Minded’ pays tribute to Sussers’ innate ability to construct intriguing character driven stories in a short form setting.

The Hollywood Reporter synthesised the spot perfectly; ‘bringing his iconic yet unique voice to the campaign, Walken’s resilient squirrel is all Wall Street theatrics as he urges investors from behind a trading desk to save and invest what they can for the future.’ Susser has managed to engage with these theatrics and offer up a bursting with life campaign to educate his audience towards the grand prize, ‘Grow Your Oak!’
