Kimberley Ragan’s Cannes Diary #2

Kimberley Ragan, group creative director at Colenso BBDO, is representing New Zealand on the Cannes Brand Experience & Activation Lions. Ragan, along with most of the other NZ and Australian jurors writes exclusively for CB.

Day two. And today’s themes are filter coffee, endless snacks, and the four walls of the jury room.

The Brand Experience & Activation jury has the most work in it of the festival, which means we judge for an extra day than the other juries while everyone else enjoys the sunshine and craziness on the Croisette.

But I’m both lucky and grateful to spend these days with some really inspiring and talented people from all over the world – Aussie, Dubai, USA, London, Spain, Brasil, Japan & France. Together, we’ve discussed some truly inspiring work, most of which I would kill to have in my book. There are some definite trends emerging from the work: fun is back, purpose still rules, and we’ve ventured into the Metaverse (well, we’re trying to at least).

Today we managed to conquer some challenging tech issues, confirm a shortlist, and bronze. Tomorrow the big stuff happens: Silver, Gold and of course Grand Prix.

Until then, I’ll leave you all with this view from the jury room.
