COLENSO BBDO’S SI VICARS NAMED 2024 CANNES LIONS Audio and Radio JURY PRESIDENT

The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has announced the names of the global experts confirmed to lead the 2024 Juries. Leading the Audio and Radio jury is Colenso BBDO’s Chief Creative Officer, Si Vicars.

“To represent New Zealand and Colenso BBDO as a jury president is a career highlight. To me, Cannes is an important chance to celebrate the brands who embraced the power of creativity to give themselves an unfair commercial advantage.” Says Vicars,

“From a smaller market point of view, Cannes has always been an opportunity to win your way out of obscurity and stand shoulder to shoulder with the biggest agencies and brands from around the world. It’s a week of envy, inspiration, despair and, if you get it all right, euphoria. I can’t wait.”

With a career spanning 17 years, Vicars was awarded his first Cannes Lion in 2008. He then went on to win 53 lions as a Copywriter, including two Grand Prix, one Titanium and 19 golds – placing him amongst the most prolifically awarded Creatives in the world. His work, including DB Export Brewtroleum, The Pedigree Child Replacement Programme, Samsung’s Smart Phone Line and Monteith’s Twigs helped Colenso BBDO win Pacific Agency of the Decade at Cannes (2010 – 2020). After three years at adam & eve DDB London leading adidas football, Virgin Media and Mars Petcare, he returned to Colenso BBDO and created Skinny’s Phone It In campaign. In 2023, as Chief Creative Officer, he helped the Auckland-based agency win Cannes Agency of the Year for the Pacific region.

Convening in Cannes in June, the Jury Presidents will help benchmark excellence across the world’s very best creative and effective work.

Among the Jury Presidents, Tor Myhren will serve as the Film Lions Jury President – the first time Apple has been represented. GUT’s Anselmo Ramos is confirmed as the Brand Experience & Activation Lions President after a series of historic wins in 2023, and Debbi Vandeven has been announced as Jury President of the Dan Wieden Titanium Lions, representing the largest creative agency network in the world, VML.

Additionally, after leading its first Jury, Cindy Gallop returns as the Glass: The Lion for Change Jury President for its 10th edition, while previous Lion of St Mark honouree, Prasoon Pandey, is named as the Film Craft Lions President.

Commenting on the Jury Presidents, Simon Cook, CEO, LIONS, said: “Our Jury Presidents play a crucial role in the existence of the Lions. Their knowledge, skills and incredible talent, combined with the commitment and leadership that they will bring to their roles, bring integrity and rigour to the Lions. This is an exceptional line-up of talent from across the world, and we can’t wait to see the work that rises to the top in June.”
