New Zealand scores eight finalists at shortlist stage of The One Show 2024 led by Special with 3
The One Club for Creativity has today announced the global finalists for The One Show 2024, including eight from New Zealand. Special New Zealand leads the Kiwi agency pack with three finalists, followed by Dentsu Creative with two finalists and Colenso BBDO, The Monkeys and VML NZ with one finalist apiece.
Special New Zealand has picked up two finalists for Partners Life ‘Last Performance’ and one for Wellington City Mission ‘A Silent Night’. Dentsu Creative has scored two finalists for FreshChoice ‘Aid Aisle’. Scoring one finalist apiece is Colenso BBDO for Delivereasy ‘Delivereasy Lawyers’; The Monkeys for ASB Bank ‘Bagels by BENEE’ and VML New Zealand for Stats NZ ‘Even Harry Styles’.
APAC finalists by country and region are Australia with 69, Japan with 42, Singapore with 29, India with 28, mainland China with 25, Thailand with 19, New Zealand and South Korea with eight each, Taiwan-China with six, Hong Kong-SAR with four, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Philippines with three each, and Kazakhstan with one.
This year’s esteemed global jury selected a total of 1,794 finalists from 50 countries and regions. The complete searchable list of finalists for The One Show 2024 is available here.
Globally, FCB New York leads the world with 50 finalists, including 45 for “Dreamcaster” on behalf of AB InBev, Michelob ULTRA. “Dreamcaster” is also the entry with the most finalist selections.
All finalists will win Gold, Silver, or Bronze Pencils or Merits, to be announced on May 16 and celebrated at The One Show 2024 awards ceremony on May 17, 2024 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York during Creative Week.

It is very interesting to see what work rises globally from NZ. Check out what won at Axis and look at this list. Overlay them. There are some very obvious omissions.
Not everyone enters One Show. There are also live dates to consider.
Would be worth checking if those agencies (think I know the 2 you’re talking about) actually enter One Show… I know DDB doesn’t.
Cannes will be the real test.
Many agencies save for the usuals don’t have big award budgets, so can’t compete even if they want to. So awards never give a true representation, unless you’re in the awards game.
