The Work 2024 Contenders: The Monkeys Aotearoa

Campaign Brief recognises and showcases the great work that is being produced in the region with The Work 2024 Contenders. Here is The Monkeys New Zealand’s Top 3…

ASB x Youthline: Bagels by BENEE: The most calming song in the world
The Monkeys
To help the 1 in 4 young New Zealanders who suffer anxiety, we paired the nation’s biggest popstar, BENEE, with neuroscientists to create a song that calms you when you feel anxious.

BENEE collaborated with the team of scientists from Auckland University of Technology to produce the track using musical elements scientifically proven to reduce anxiety. The music video is also scientifically created, with therapeutically calming visuals.

Tested in the largest neurological study ever conducted on the effects of music on anxiety, ‘Bagels’ outperformed all other tracks at reducing short-term anxiety, leading to it being dubbed ‘the most calming song in the world’. It was then released as an official single, reaching number #1 on NZ Singles Charts, and over 10 million streams to date.

No Ugly: No Ugly, Yes Please
The Monkeys
No Ugly is a New Zealand wellness brand that makes a range of all-natural health drinks to help you get through life. But in a world where wellness often means perineum tanning, crystal healing, and coffee enemas, we set out to take on the nonsense.

We launched our ‘Yes please’ brand platform with a billboard campaign that took aim at the virtuous woo, spiritual gurus and influencers, encouraging people to start saying yes to living however they want. We had the drinks to help them do it.

ASB: Card Tracker
The Monkeys
We’re all guilty of signing up to a subscription on a whim and forgetting about it. Suddenly, those free trials become our monthly expenses. Add on exercise apps, online games and streaming services, and people find they are spending hundreds of dollars a month on subscriptions. Whether it’s the ones we use all the time, some of the time, or just signed up to that one time, ASB’s new card tracker feature allows customers to conveniently see those subscriptions in one place.
