Campaign Brief recognises and showcases the great work that is being produced in the region with The Work 2024 Contenders. Here is EightyOne’s Top 3…

Women’s Refuge: The Great Night In
EightyOne
Like many households, Women’s Refuge feels the pinch during winter. Demand for services is consistent year-round – yet increased costs to keep refuges’ lights on and fundraising challenges typically sees a severe seasonal shortfall.

To keep Women’s Refuge ahead of the curve of year-on-year increases in family violence, we created The Great Night In. A one night only event where people could support a great cause by doing nothing. Simply settle in and get comfy at home with their loved ones with the help of a range of limited edition $20 Safe Night partner bundles. Which quickly sold out to help set a new Winter Appeal fundraising record of $641,153.

WellingtonNZ: Escape to Wellington
EightyOne
Why did a small city at the end of the world put the world’s largest “Esc” key in the middle of Manhattan?

Facing a professional skills shortage post-Covid, Wellington needed to attract more global talent to spur growth. So, we gave New Yorkers the chance to find better “life-work” balance, simply by clicking “Esc” to find real, personalised job opportunities.

This live event was the centrepiece of a dedicated PR effort earning 1.26 billion impressions and $15m of global media coverage to get a small city at the end of the world on the map like never before.

Women’s Refuge: 17,680 Nights of July
EightyOne
Aotearoa has the highest rate of domestic violence in the western world. By mid 2023, 680 women and children were asking Women’s Refuge for help every month. With an average stay of 26 nights, and winter setting in, Women’s Refuge needed to fund 17,680 nights of accommodation.

To make this issue impossible to ignore and ensure every whānau needing one had a safe place to stay, we created the world’s longest month. A 17,680-night calendar brought to life across online, video, outdoor and PR motivated Kiwis to make the month even longer – to the tune of 26,219 Safe Nights, or $524,380 for those in need.
