Noel Leeming helps Kiwis find the perfect Father’s Day gift in newly launched campaign via TBWA/NZ
TBWA\New Zealand and Noel Leeming have brought Noel Leeming back to Kiwis’ screens this Father’s Day.
Continuing the theme of Olympic sponsorship work, the ad shows a passionate Noel Leeming expert helping a mother and son find the perfect gift for dad.
It does this by playing with something most people can relate to – a kid getting excited about buying a present. And while it was shot in level 1, the ensuing fun is something Kiwis could all use right now.
Says Jonathan Waecker, chief customer officer at The Warehouse Group: “It’s great to see our brand purpose ‘always happy to help’ being applied to one of the most special days of the year – Father’s Day. It’s a great demonstration of the brand helping to find a gift that will go to good use, with a bit of insightful fun & charm to boot.”
Says Shane Bradnick, chief creative officer, TBWA\NZ: “We’re enjoying creating the unique comedy of this second ad in the Noel’s campaign. The resolve being a fresh take on Father’s Day you don’t see coming.
“We love our kids loud voices, but now more than ever we also love a good pair of noise cancelling headphones.”
The campaign will be rolling out across TV and digital.

Pretty funny. The character named Noel Leeming doesn’t really work though, just make him a staff member.
Funny
Say it louder
Did the client write this?
Annoying. Not funny.
There’s a good ad in here somewhere, but the execution is so bad on every level.
Hahahaha this ad is gold 🙂
Love this
The adult shouting voice on the kid takes you somewhere else and doesn’t land the idea. Shouldn’t the kid just have a loud kid’s voice? And why am I fixing this for you, and why don’t you know this stuff?
I like it. Reminds me of this creepfest of a film….

Because that would make it obvious, not weird, and not interesting. Junior creative playing CD on the blogs?
No, you did.
This dub technique has been thrashed. Agree with Details matter, and to your point, the opposite is true. It makes it feel tied and familiar.
Love it.
What Josh said
Yeah, Noel Leeming was a distraction, but c’mon, the weird man-kid voice is great. I have girls and they sound exactly like that.
This ad rings absolutely true to me. I have a grandson who fits the part spot on – the behaviour and the voice could be his perfectly and exactly.
Well done- i love it.
Ads are supposed to be memorable. Your ‘fix’ would make this wallpaper.
kiwi gold, eagerly anticipating next fathers day for replay
This is the best ad ever, laughed my tits off. Well done.
It’s really funny. We love it.
Who plays the dad in this ad please? Looks like an old friend of mine 😀
